According to WHO, around 1.6 million people died of Tuberculosis in 2021. Globally, tuberculosis is the 13th leading cause of death and the second leading infectious killer after COVID-19 (above HIV/AIDS). In 2021, an estimated 10.6 million people fell ill with tuberculosis worldwide. Six million men, 3.4 million women and 1.2 million children. Tuberculosis is present in all countries and age groups. But Tuberculosis is curable and preventable. March 24th is observed as World Tuberculosis Day to build public awareness about the global epidemic of tuberculosis and efforts to eliminate the disease.
Considering World Tuberculosis Day, a webinar is being organized by TechSci Research on March 24th with the aim of raising awareness about Tuberculosis and its impact on public health. The webinar will feature experts from the healthcare industry- Mr. Kamalesh Sarkar, Former Director, ICMR-National Institute of Occupational Health, and Mr. Abhinav Singh, Senior Treatment Supervisor, National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme who will share their insights on various aspects related to Tuberculosis such as diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and control measures. The speakers will also discuss the challenges faced in eliminating Tuberculosis and the steps needed to be taken towards achieving this goal. The webinar aims to engage a wide audience including healthcare professionals, researchers, policymakers, and members of the public who are interested in learning more about Tuberculosis. By hosting such events, we can plan to create a platform for discussion and collaboration towards finding solutions for this global health issue.
