There have been multiple times when Anushka Sharma has been trolled and targeted for Virat Kohli’s bad performance. During the IPL 2020, on 24th Sep, Thursday, Sunil Gavaskar mentioned Anushka Sharma while commenting on Virat Kohli’s performance during the match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kings XI Punjab. Since then everyone is talking about this controversy.
It so happened that, while Virat was batting, Sunil Gavaskar stated during the commentary “Inhone lockdown me sirf Anushka ki bowling ki practice ki hai, woh video dekhi hai usse toh kuch nahi hona hai” (During this lockdown, the only practice he has done is against Anushka’s bowling. I saw a video and that won’t be enough). He referred to a viral video where Virat and Anushka were seen playing cricket in the lawn of their Mumbai residence amid the lockdown. Gavaskar’s comment leads to this controversy.
After that, on Friday, Anushka Sharma, on her social media handle, called out Gavaskar’s comment as ‘distasteful’ and added a long paragraph asking him to give an explanation for what he said and dragging her into cricket. As expected, Gavaskar, in an interview with India Today reacted to Anushka’s post and said that he was not blaming her for her husband’s failures and was just referring to the viral video.
Royal Challengers Bangalore, Virat Kohli, and Anushka Sharma’s fans were clearly not happy with Sunil Gavaskar’s remark and did not go down well with it. Many tweets were exchanged here and there. Bollywood celebrities including Zareen Khan tweeted on Anushka’s side. Some of their fans also tweeted out of anger, asking BCCI to remove Sunil Gavaskar from the commentary panel.
Such controversies have arisen many times in the past, where Anushka Sharma has been dragged into Cricket and have been targeted for her husband’s bad performances during the match.
